Merchants property amounting to millions of naira have been destroyed as fire engulfs shopping complex in Osun.
The fire razed three shops in a shopping complex at Orita Aje, around Testing Ground in Osogbo.
One of the victims identified as Akande revealed that the fire was caused by a power surge.
This power surge happened in a phone accessories store which caused the fire that lasted for about 45 minutes.
Luckily, firefighters were able to intervene in time to prevent the fire from razing the entire complex.
Mr fatal Aremu, Administrative Officer of the Osun Fire Fighters confirmed the fired destroyed good worth over 1 million naira.
The officer also confirmed that the fire indeed stater from a power surge.
He said as fire engulfs shopping complex,
“Four of the shops were completely burnt before the arrival of men of the Fire Service, while the rest were partially affected by the fire.
Properties lost to the incident is worth N1.2 million.”
“Our investigation into the incident is still ongoing,”
