A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode has reacted to a viral photo of how former Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu greeted the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi during the Coronation of the Oniru of Iruland on Sunday, September 6.
Reacting to the photo, the former Minister frown at Tinubu’s failure to stand up to greet the Monarch, who stopped to greet Tinubu when he was walking to the high table.
In a tweet, Fani Kayode noted that it was insulting and shameful for Tinubu to have refused to stand up to greet the monarch.
According to the tweet, the act displayed by Tinubu was not only deeply insulting to every Ife and son and daughter of Odua but it is also a crying shame, He wondered if a northern political leader would refuse to stand up for his traditional ruler.
Earlier, the spokesman for Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin said Tinubu should have stood up to greet the Ooni of Ife adding that it was important for traditional institutions to be respected.
He, however, referred to how former President, Olusegun Obasanjo prostrated for the Ooni in 2016 adding that modern age should not stop people from giving due respect to the Obas.
