Facebook has announced that pre-installation of their applications: WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and other apps on new Huawei phones. It, however, stated that clients who already had the devices can use the applications and receive updates too.
“But new Huawei phones will no longer be able to have Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram apps pre-installed,” Facebook Inc said.
This is a huge blow for the Chinese company as it struggles to keep its business afloat in the US. This move by Facebook looks like it will dampen the sales for Huawei although the company has refused to comment on the issue.
Earlier, Google has announced that all the new versions of Huawei smartphones will not be able to access its app store.
There are speculations that the ban is strictly for the devices that have not left the factory at the time of the announcement.
Allegations are also coming on saying that the Huawei company is too close to the Chinese Government and that the devices could be a conduit for espionage. Huawei has denied this allegation.
Huawei has however said it is prepared to handle all the changes and will
find a soft landing for the issues.
A decline in sales can also be noticed in some parts of the US and UK as consumers
are wary to buy the devices in the face of uncertainties.
