Explosion Rocks Lebanese Capital, Kills 25

Lebanese Health Minister, Hamad Hassan has confirmed that no fewer than 25 people have been killed and more than 2,500 injured in Tuesday’s massive blast at Beirut port.

Though the cause of the explosion remains unclear as at the time of filing this report, the secretary-general of the Kataeb political party, Nazar Najarian, was one of the people killed in the powerful explosion.

According to Lebanon state-run NNA news, Najarian was in his office when the explosion happened.

It was reported that a major fire broke out near Beirut port and firefighting teams rushed to the scene and working to put out the fire.

In the meantime, hundreds of people have been hospitalized across the Lebanese capital following the massive blast in Beirut.

Everyevery.ng gathered that the American University of Beirut Medical Center was unable to receive more patients, partly due to blast damage

However, the Lebanese Red Cross, health officials and politicians have called on people to donate blood to help the injured in hospital.

Though officials have yet to announce an official number of casualties, there are growing concerns that there could be a high death toll.
