Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai and other ex-service chiefs have been caught in a web of fresh scandal.
The National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, said neither the money approved by Mr Buhari for arms purchase nor arms were available when the new service chiefs assumed office.
Monguno said the president had approved a massive amount of money for arms purchase, but the equipment was not forthcoming.
He expressed optimism that the newly appointed service chiefs would devise ways to purchase the arms to fight Insurgency in the country.
“The money is missing, we don’t know how, and nobody knows for now.”
Ex-Service Chiefs
You will recall that President Buhari removed the service chiefs after so many calls for their removal.
The former service chiefs are General Abayomi Olonisakin, Tukur Buratai, Ibok Ekwe Ibas and Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
The recently appointed service chiefs are Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff, Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff and Rear Admiral Gambo as the Chief of Naval Staff.
