The Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-rufai has threatened to impose a fresh lockdown in Kaduna given the rising cases of COVID-19 infections in the state.
El-Rufai, who expressed concerns over the cases of infections in the state noted that his government would announce the fresh lockdown if the rate of infections continues to rise.
He lamented that some residents have refused to abide by all the safety measures put in place by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC to curtail the spread of the infection in the state.

According to the governor, the rate of infections will soon overwhelm the state’s health system if nothing is done urgently to contain the spread of the virus.

In the meantime, El-Rufai has directed all employees of the state government to undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test. Also, the governor has warned residents to celebrate Christmas with caution, by avoiding large gatherings and adhering to other safety measures ahead of the festivities.
As of the time of filing this report, 64 persons have tested positive out of 267 samples analysed. The new cases are in Kaduna North 16, Kaduna South 25, Giwa 10, Jema’a 2, Lere 4, Kachin 3, Chikun 1 and Igabi 3.
It was gathered that Kaduna State has so far recorded 30 per cent new COVID-19 infections daily in the last two months.
