The EFCC noted that the fake Twitter accounts have been attracting followers in droves, believing they were dealing with the new EFCC Chairman.
In a statement issued by Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesman of the EFCC, the Commission stated that the said Twitter Accounts do not belong to Mr Bawa and should be disregarded.
Uwajaren added that these fake Twitter accounts’ promoters deceived more than 500 unsuspecting Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the EFCC described the unauthorised use of someone else’s name and image as identity theft and criminal offence.
The EFCC Spokesman opined that the Commission would not hesitate to bring the law’s full weight on any erring individual or group.
Everyevery.ng had reported that Bawa vowed to lead by example and work with all strategic partners of the EFCC around the world for a mutual objective.
He noted that the Commission would recover stolen asset for the benefit and betterment of all Nigerians. Bawa further promised to give the young people a very good representation in the governance to be given more responsibility.
The new EFCC Boss said he would contribute his quota in seeing that Nigeria is taken to a greater height.
