The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has alerted the public on the fake Twitter Accounts supposedly belonging to the Commission’s new Chairman, Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa.
According to the anti-graft agency, three of the fake accounts created in the last few days are AbdurasheedBawa, AbdulrBawa and AbdulrashidBaw.
The EFCC noted that the fake Twitter accounts have been attracting followers in droves, believing they were dealing with the new EFCC Chairman.
In a statement issued by Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesman of the EFCC, the Commission stated that the said Twitter Accounts do not belong to Mr Bawa and should be disregarded.

Uwajaren added that these fake Twitter accounts’ promoters deceived more than 500 unsuspecting Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the EFCC described the unauthorised use of someone else’s name and image as identity theft and criminal offence.
The EFCC Spokesman opined that the Commission would not hesitate to bring the law’s full weight on any erring individual or group.

He noted that the Commission would recover stolen asset for the benefit and betterment of all Nigerians. Bawa further promised to give the young people a very good representation in the governance to be given more responsibility.
The new EFCC Boss said he would contribute his quota in seeing that Nigeria is taken to a greater height.
