I watched a cartoon called Rango, the main character there is a chameleon. It is a parody of the complete Nigerian condition with Buhari, Burutai, Lai, and stupid citizens.
In the cartoon, there was more than enough water, but the Mayor of the town diverted it and kept telling the ignorant citizens to have hope that one day there will be plenty. He said they should endure more suffering.
Meanwhile, the water goes to an unknown people in a faraway city just as the resources of Nigeria is being stolen while Buhari is telling us to endure more suffering. The difference between Buhari and the Tortoise who was the Mayor of Dirt town is that the Mayor himself controlled everything while Buhari is used to control things in Nigeria.
The Mayor was aware that so long as he maintained the hope of this Dirtonians, by making available just a little amount of water, the ignorant people will continue to love and obey him as a leader just as Nigerian leaders believe severe poverty keep the masses in line, and so instead of expanding the economy, they create insufficient measures like Trader Money and low wages.
One day, a lady almost found out that there might be no water in the future since it was being diverted. A riot started and the people demanded to have the little water left in the bank of the town.
However, Rango the hero, who was new in the town and was made the Sheriff having killed a killer predator, stopped the people from taking the meager reserve of water.
He persuaded them inadvertently using the dubious argument that if they took away the last reserve, there won’t be any more water in the town. Rango, like the rest of the ignorant Dirtonians, was unaware of the Mayor’s conspiracy of diverting the abundant water of the town.
Rango was being used in the deception of the people. He was like those Ignorant Buharists who explain to us that taxes and failure and poverty in Nigeria are necessary for future prosperity.
The Buharists, like Rango, are unaware of the immense wealth being stolen and are unaware of the needlessness of current suffering in Nigeria. Rango had however realized his mistake and turned against the Mayor. In the end, the Mayor’s conspiracy was exposed and the abundant water was released to the joy of the citizens.
All Nigerian characters were represented in the cartoon. There were spies, sycophants, wicked military general (Jack the snake), servants (acolytes), activists (Bean), religious fanatics, etc.
The means of controlling people’s minds in Dirt town included force, blackmail, poverty, religion, etc. A very much Nigerian scene.
Who has watched this cartoon?
