Nigerian singer, Di’ja’s latest single, ‘Inyamuri’ has generated ethnic reactions from Nigerians.
Inyamuri is typically how Northerners would refer to anyone of Igbo extraction just like the southerners would refer to Northerners as Aboki.
Historically, it is pretty nasty and considered derogatory, considering how the name came to be.
The name was coined during the civil war when badly starved Igbo children would beg the Nigerian soldiers (mostly hausa)for water saying “Nye’m mmiri”. it was then used to refer to the ibos.

This has got some followers to kick against the song’s title and has asked why Mavin Boss, Don Jazzy to allow such title as an Igbo person.

Di’ja released ‘Inyamuri‘ on the 28th of November, 2020.
