The Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Mr Femi Adesina has revealed details of the conversation between the Nigerian President and his US counterpart, Donald Trump.
Adesina who revealed the discussion between the two Presidents in a statement he posted on his official Twitter handle noted that during the Tuesday phone conversation, the two leaders commiserated with each other on fatalities in their countries, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the statement, the President also shared ideas on how to combat the health emergency successfully.
Details Of Buhari’s Phone Conversation With Trump
He added that Buhari expressed condolences to the government and people of the United States over the fatalities recorded, and equally expressed worry at the high rate of deaths recorded across the world.
Another thing discussed during the phone conversation includes the associated negative impacts of the pandemic on the world’s economy.
Adesina said the Nigerian President lauded his American counterpart for the various initiatives adopted by his government to contain the further spread of the virus across the United States.
According to the statement, President Buhari also indicated Nigeria’s readiness to cooperate with the United States to fight this common unseen enemy.
He further stated that Buhari informed Trump that Nigeria had taken several proactive measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 across the country.
The Presidential spokesman added that Buhari welcomed the valuable friendship and expressed appreciation to President Trump for reaching out at this time.
