Barely a week after the much talked about Obi Cubana Mother’s burial in Oba, Anambra State, the Department of State Services, DSS has issued a stern warning against the public display of wealth.
According to the Deputy Director, Security Enforcement of the DSS in Kwara State, Paul Oduh, the show of affluence in public attracts the attention of criminal elements.
Oduh added that the uncontrolled exhibition of flamboyant lifestyle and deliberate show of affluence has the potency of attracting kidnappers, bandits and other criminals. He stressed the need for Nigerians to adopt moderate lifestyles not to fall prey to criminal elements.
He noted that Nigeria is ravaged by insecurity daily, adding that people should be knowledgeable enough about those things to protect themselves. Oduh emphasized the need to accept that threats exist and people are targets of the criminal elements.
The DSS director further listed types of threats to include assassination, terrorism, insurgency, kidnapping, ritual killing, cultism, robbery and arson. He advised Nigerians to put in place security measures to secure their homes and properties.
Cubana Mother’s Burial
You will recall that Obi Cubana’s wife, Mrs Iyiegbu, had earlier reacted to the insinuations over the source of her husband’s wealth, which many linked to money rituals.
Mrs Iyiegbu, in a post on her Instagram page, noted that Obi Cubana is grace personified. She added that the success recorded during the funeral event in Oba resulted from the grace upon the socialite’s life.
She opined that her husband’s wealth has nothing to do with getting involved in money rituals or criminalities.
