Officers of the Cross Rivers Police command have rescued three pregnant teenagers and two children from a suspected baby factory in the state.
The pregnant ladies were identified as Blessing Okon(19), Blessing Francis (19) and Blessing Solomon (21) while the two kids involved were also identified as Bright Solomon (2) and Blessing Solomon (7) and all five victims were rescued by the Police.
This sweep was confirmed to newsmen by the Cross River state commissioner of police, CP Abdulkadir Jimoh on Wednesday, October 14.
The commissioner said he led a team of police officers to the residence of one of the suspects, Ima-Obong Asuquo in Obot Udonna village of the Akamkpa LGA earlier in the day where the pregnant ladies and babies were rescued.According to him, they got a tip-off at about 3:40 am that day and immediately swooped into action.
Jimoh said that the prime suspect involved in the crime had been arraigned and confessed that she sold three children for the sum of N1.5 million while working with another lady simply known as Iquo. in his statement he said,
“Both are in our custody, while investigations are in progress. One Mr Solomon Christopher, a witness, has also made a recorded statement”
