A Nigerian cleric, Apostle Johnson Suleman has advised the federal government to bury the plan to involve the military in quelling the #EndSARS protests across the country noting that such move will further open up new demands which might be disastrous or regrettable.
The cleric, who is also the President, Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide in a tweet on Saturday added that the reactions to years of oppression cant stop in a week given the number of lives that have been lost to police brutality.
Earlier, Apostle Suleman has opined that beyond fighting for innocent Nigerians who have been killed by SARS operatives, all the inmates currently in SARS cells should have their cases reviewed. He stressed that people who are in detention over trumped-up charges and those tortured to admit under duress what they were innocent of should have their cases reviewed.
Earlier, the Nigerian Military has released a press statement announcing that this year’s Exercise Crocodile Smile VI is scheduled to commence from the 20th of October to the 31st of December 2020.
According to Colonel Sagir Musa, the Acting Director Army Public Relations, the Operation Crocodile Smile will include cyber warfare exercises designed to identify, track and counter negative propaganda on the social media and across the cyberspace.
Musa said the exercise will also include positive identification component aimed at identifying Boko Haram terrorists fleeing from the North East and other parts of the country as a result of the ongoing operations in the various theatres of operations especially in the Northeast, North Central and North Western parts of Nigeria.
However, the Nigerian Army assured Nigerians of its commitment to the sustenance of peace and security in Nigeria and urges members of the public for their support and understanding throughout the period of the exercise.
