The Kaduna State Government has directed all workers below Grade Level 14 to work from home as from Monday, December 21. This is with the view to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as the state braces for a second wave of the pandemic.

This was contained in a statement by Mr Muyiwa Adekeye, Special Adviser on Media and Communication to Governor Nasir El-Rufai in Kaduna.

Adekeye noted that the workers could be summoned to the office by their supervisors who may require their presence in the office.

He said that El-Rufai had signed and authorized new regulations to contain the spread of the COVID-19 second wave in the state with effect from Monday.

The directives include mandating the use of face masks and sanitizers in organizations and religious institutions and other public places.

The statement read in part,

‘’It is mandatory to wear a facemask outside the house. Organizations and individuals that allow people into their premises have the responsibility to enforce the no mask, no entry mandate, facemask should be worn to cover both the nose and mouth.

‘’Places of worship must enforce facemask use, provide sanitizers and ensure physical distancing. The number of worshippers will be capped. Congregational worship should not exceed one hour.”
