Pastor Giwa
A Nigerian Pastor has made fresh demands from the Federal government for the smooth running of religious gathering during the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Senior Pastor of Awaiting the Second Coming Of Jesus Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa, faulted the guidelines given to religious centres by the Federal Government, FG after the ban placed on religious gatherings was eased.
According to the Pastor, it was wrong for the FG to give an hour service duration limit to worshippers to serve their God.
He said it was not in the place of the FG to determine how long a person will spend in the house of the Lord.
“Let me also use this medium to tell the Federal Government to withdraw some conditions given to the church. it’s wrong to give us time to end our service.”
Pastor Giwa also demanded that the Federal government see to the withdrawal of the guideline mandating worshippers to wear face masks during church services.
in his view, the guidelines were not set nor mandated because the government loves the citizens. “It is also not acceptable to mandate us to be using masks in the house of God. You don’t love us by telling us to follow the guidelines laid down by human beings.”
He asserted that God is not a mate to any disease including coronavirus. To him, social distancing during church services can be adhered to, but mandating the use of face mask should be withdrawn by the government.
Apart from the religious gathering guidelines the Pastor wants to be withdrawn by the government, he also thinks to pay tithe and giving of an offering by church members during the pandemic should be discouraged by other pastors.
He said things are hard right now, and such donations should not be made mandatory in churches but should be a willing move to those who can afford to give.
