A Lagos court dismisses homosexuality case against James Brown, Nigerian internet sensation and crossdresser and 57 others.
In November 2019, James and some other men were cleared of the homosexuality charges put against them.
James was arrested with other men after the police raided a party
In addition,the commissioner, Edgar Imohimi said those arrested were carrying out an initiation for new members.
After dragging the case for almost a year, the men have finally been cleared.
Justice Rilwan Aikawa dismissed the case on the ground of the case lacking ‘diligent prosecution’ by the police
Usman, the defendant’s cancel asked the court to strike out the case because the Criminal Justice Act only allows for five adjournments.
Afterward, Aikawa agreed to say that the protection was no longer capable or willing to prosecute the case.
In response to the dismissal of the homosexuality case against James Brown, he wrote on social media,
“I’m free like a bird. HOMOSEXUALITY CASE CLOSED Congratulations to 57 runway boys we won (we no be gay).”
