The collapsed building in Ebutte Meta, LagosState, Nigeria, is now witnessing a heavy rescue activity to save the lives of those that are still trapped underneath the rubbles of the three storey-structure.
The tragic incident transpired late Sunday Night where the unsuspecting residents had to face the horrific moment when the building suddenly caved in, as the authorities are yet ascertain the number of people trapped or if there have been any life lost in the accident.
It wasn’t long before the fire service officials appeared at the scene to put the situation under control.They are known under the auspices of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and they were joined by men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
Authorities React to Lagos Collapsed Building
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on New Media, Jubril Gawat said: “Search and rescue ongoing with updates to follow.”
As contained in a clip shared on social media, a large crowd could be spotted in front of the building with first respondents helping to search for several survivors just before the arrival of the state rescue team.
Also, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, in an update said: “An alert of a collapsed building, three storey, by 32 Ibadan Street, Ebutte Meta was received at 9:48.p.m, Sunday with Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service already at the scene.”
