Christians all over the world have been enjoined to see the Coronavirus, COVID-19 Pandemic as a trying time that would end in due time.
Pastor Kayode Oladimeji of the Peculiar People international Christian Centre, Ibadan gave the charge in his Easter message during a phone conversation with everyevery.ng.
According to the Clergy, Easter is the time to commemorate the suffering, crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He said Christianity Is Meaningless Without Easter which stands for the death and resurrection of Jesus, whom he described as the backbone of Christianity.
Christianity Is Meaningless Without Easter
Though, many people believe that this year’s Easter celebration is unusual given the lockdown order and the social distancing that was announced as part of measures to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.
But, Pastor Oladimeji said, it is not about the gathering of people but the right understanding of what Easter connotes.
Speaking on the essence of Easter, the man of God said, the death of Jesus Christ gives meaning to Christianity as he referred to 1 Corinthians Chapter 15 verse 17 “And if Christ is not raised, your faith is vain, you are yet in your sin.”
While pointing out the blessings attached to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, he noted that the resurrection of Jesus delivers humanity from the power of sin and also restores true believers’ fellowship with God.
He further stated that man has access to God through the blood that was shed on the cross of Calvary by Jesus Christ as he described the blood as such that stands for the remission of sin.
Another blessing he pointed out is that everyone who believes in the death and resurrection of Jesus shall inherit eternal life and other benefits from God while on Earth.
However, he emphasised the need to adhere strictly to the different measures announced by the Fderal Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC to put an end to the further spread of Coronavirus in the country.
