President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa as the substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
In a letter to President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, the President asked the National Assembly to confirm Bawa’s appointment adding that he was acting under Paragraph 2(3) of Part1, CAP E1 of EFCC Act 2004.

According to the Presidency, Bawa is a trained EFCC investigator with vast experience in the investigation and prosecution of Advance Fee Fraud cases, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering, and other economic crimes.
He has undergone several specialized trainings in different parts of the world and was one of the pioneer EFCC Cadet Officers in 2005.

Bawa is from Jega, Kebbi State.
40-year old Bawa is a trained Economic and Financial Crimes investigator with vast experience in the investigation and prosecution of Advance fee fraud, Official Corruption, Bank Fraud and Money Laundering.
He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, trained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Financial Crime Enforcement Network, the World Bank, and the United Nations Office Drug and Crimes, the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria State Security Services.
The new EFCC Boss has successfully investigated and testified in the prosecution of several cases leading to convictions and recovery of several Billions of Naira and Millions of US Dollars in cash and properties worldwide.
He bagged masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy, Usman Danfodio University Sokoto, Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics.
Bawa is a recipient of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Merit Award.
