Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has declared that any citizen who fails to acquire the National Identification Number, NIN, would be denied access to a Subscriber Identity Module, SIM.
The Commission stated this during the BreketeFamilyLive Show on Human Rights Radio in Abuja on Friday while accommodating officials of the communications commission to educate Nigerians on the need for SIM integration.
The officials enlightened the public on the unavoidable damages awaiting a subscriber who resolves to decline from registering or linking their national identities to their SIM cards.
They gave instances of identity theft and other related criminalities, stating that the implications that may arise as a consequence of a crime committed by one individual and then another takes the fall is inevitable.
NCC Restates Need for SIM Linkage
NCC stressed that ignorance of the law is not an excuse, adding that anyone who falls victim to the crime mentioned above may suffer from the long arms of the law for failing to adhere to simple instructions of linking NIN to SIM.
The officials urged all Nigerians to register and link their identification to their numbers, adding that it is safer to play by the rule than to ignore the laws.
