Boredom and idleness seem to have successfully hijacked the once interesting and engaging Ultimate Love Reality TV show from Aunty, who is the host of the show.
This development started setting in gradually last week when social distancing between Love Guests and any other person coming from any place other than the confines of the Love Pad, including Aunty, the bay leaves, and resource persons.
Previously, the relationship between the Love Guests, Aunty, and Resource Persons was worth paying attention to, but since last week the imaginary bridge but between them was noticeable even to the visually impaired. The Aunty, who normally hugs, shakes, and has close shaves with the Love Guests while relating to them, started giving distance.
She tried to manage the situation, but her efforts were unfortunately inadequate to achieve her aim of keeping her guests safe. Hence she regrettably had to cut physical contacts and began to communicate and transmit her love via electronic messages.
If Aunty’s side can be managed and alternative connecting channels were employed, that of the Resource Persons who hitherto have impacted the Love Guests through skill accusations, series of letters, and entertaining test tips could not be effectively managed.
The last Resource Person who had a partial interface with the Love Guests was a basket weaver, who helped them with the baskets required for the Kano Food festival task.
As much as the Love Guests needed tutelage that required physical contacts for the basket weaving class, they were unable to get it. Nonetheless, they maneuvered their ways of learning the craft and making use of the baskets for a successful outing last Saturday.
After the live nomination show on Sunday, Aunty visited the Love Pad and dropped a bombshell about the fact that is will be inevitable for him to stop having physical contacts with them. That was the stroll that broke Carmel’s back and paved the way for boredom and idleness to hijack the Ultimate Love show from Aunty.
Do not forget that the Monday couples’ challenge, which allows contesting couples to go out to the street of Lagos, was also canceled and that seems to be the end of the lively activities on the show. On Monday, Aunty brought up a cooking challenge where the male love Guests were to cook and give their partners a treat. After this, double eviction was done in the Love Pad, and then boredom and idleness took over.
Since yesterday, the Love Guests have been on their own, loosening and washing hair, eating, and waiting for Sunday, which is the finale to come. For the Love Guests, 24 hours might be too long to just eat and talk away, and that can be understandable, but for the viewers, 24 hours is too long to watch people doing nothing engaging and possibly entertaining.
No one can be blamed for this development; it is certain that the lovers of the first relationship and love reality TV show in Nigeria will miss the good old days on the show. No thanks to Coronavirus, Covid-19, or whatever name is convenient for you to call it.
