2014 Big Brother Africa winner arrested for making fun of Tanzanian throwback pictures. Idris Sultan who doubles as a comedian, as well as a social media personality in Tanzania, has been arrested by the police in Tanzania for making a video of himself laughing at an old picture of President John Pombe Magnufuli and also sharing the video online.
According to his legal representative, his actions were against the Cybercrimes Act 2015 against cyberbullying.

The law states:
“A person shall not initiate or send any electronic communication using a computer system to another person with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass or cause emotional damage.”

Idris is awaiting arraignment for using his online platform to harass the President. Currently, Tanzanian twitter is trending a hashtag asking for the release of Idris. Many of them are also raising awareness on the disregard of freedom, democracy and fundamental human rights by President John Pombe.
