During the All Progressives Congress, APC primaries, the only female aspirant, Barr. Uju-Kennedy Ohanenye, in the presidential race, decided to step down for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, one of the leading party presidential hopefuls and former Governor of Lagos State.
After convincing the delegates on reasons why she feels it’s the right thing to concede her aspirations to the APC Chieftain and opined that Tinubu is in a better position to lead the party against the opposition party – the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP – and their presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
However, she thanked the party members for supporting the vision of women in politics and stressed that at a time like this, there is need for unity among party members, especially pushing a common goal for the betterment of the country.
It would be noted that Ohanenye has so far become the seventh aspirant to step down for the Jagaban of Borgu in the all-important delegates’ convention ahead of the 2023 general election.
Ohanenye, who announced her withdrawal from the race at the party’s special convention in Abuja, late last night till this morning, also mobilized support for the former Lagos State governor.
