Mallam Isa Funtua
Mallam Isa Funtua, the former president of the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) has died in the evening hours of Monday according to reports.
The close friend and ally to the president, Isa Funtua is reported to have died of cardiac arrest after driving himself to the hospital where he lost his battle after the brief illness.
The deceased was a very influential politician and businessman in Nigeria before his death. He was believed to be vying for the position of chief of staff to the president after the death of Abba Kyari and also there were reports of his ambitions to be president in 2023, both claims he had denied before his death.
The presidency made a statement through Garba Shehu, the SSA on Media and Publicity to the president, with the president reportedly praying to Allah for the repose of Mallam Isa Funtua’s soul, and granting his family the strength needed to bear the loss.
