Following the emergence of Eyitayo Jegede as the governorship flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ondo State, Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi has affirmed his loyalty to the PDP.
Ajayi, who was one of the contestants in the PDP primary elections made this known in a statement issued by his campaign team member, Director-General Kola Ademujimi.
In the statement, Agboola said he has no immediate plan to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after losing the party’s governorship primaries.
Agboola Denies Plan To Dump PDP
Agboola thanked all his supporters across the eighteen Local Government Areas of the State for their uncommon doggedness, commitment and excellent outing during the recently conducted PDP Governorship Primaries.
However, the campaign team member, Director-General, Ademujimi commended Agboola for displaying maturity, level-headedness in the face of provocation and campaign of calumny.
He noted that the deputy governor proved that he is a grassroots politician by polling 657 votes, coming second in a contest amongst seven other aspirants, barely thirty days after rejoining the PDP.
Ademujimi further urged their supporters to remain loyal to the Party as they work towards the way forward.
You will recall that Eyitayo Jegede, who garnered 888 votes emerged winner in the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Earlier, Agboola had dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for PDP after a fallout with the state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
