Abike Dabiri, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM, has reacted to the maltreatment of Nigerians abroad, particularly those in Poland.
Because of the Russian-Ukraine crisis, most Nigerians have also joined the rest of the migrants to move to Poland and other neighboring countries for shelter.
However, Dabiri-Erewa condemned the Polish authorities for profiling and detaining Nigerians and other African nationals that fled to Poland after escaping the conflict in Ukraine.
She recently spoke at the Psycho-social Trauma Clinic for Ukraine returnees organized in partnership with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, NCFRMI.
While attempts have been made to evacuate Nigerian Citizens from those unsafe countries, she hinted that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is still making more efforts to bring those remaining, even if some prefer to seek refuge in other close-by nations.
Abike Dabiri Condemns Poland Authorities’ Actions
Abike Dabiri said, “The most appropriate action for Poland to take was to return them to their countries, rather than keep them in tortuous detention centers,” adding that the behavior was “highly unacceptable and reprehensible”.
