Arik Air is a Nigerian airline founded in 2002. It commenced operations on 30th of October 2006. The airline has its hubs at Murtala Muhammad International Airport Ikeja, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja and Kotoka International Airport. It has its head office at the Arik Air Aviation center on the grounds of Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos State. The parent company of the airline is the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria. One of the company’s key people is Capt. Roy Ilegbodu. Written on Arik air aircraft is the slogan ‘Wings of Nigeria’. The airline serves a network of regional and mid-haul destinations within Africa.

Arik Air has 22 fleets in number. They are as follows: Boeing 737-700 (9), Boeing 737-800 (4), Bombardier CRJ900 (4), Bombardier CRJ1000, and Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 (4). They have previously used aircrafts such as Boeing 787-9, Boeing 737 MAX 8, and several others.
DESTINATIONS
In August 2006, the Federal Ministry of Aviation granted them authorization to fly to Trinidad and Tobago, Amsterdam, London and Madrid in Europe. The airline then planned flying to Atlanta, Miami, and Houston in the United States, and Birmingham in the United Kingdom. The airline also began scheduled passenger flights with four flights between Lagos and Abuja using CRJ 900 aircraft. There were flights to other parts such as Calabar, Benin City and Enugu. Today, Arik Air shuttles between 22 destinations in Nigeria. Among which are Murtala Muhammad International Airport (Lagos), Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (Abuja), Margaret Ekpo International Airport (Calabar), Benin Airport (Benin City), Akanu Ibiam International Airport (Enugu), Aminu Kano International Airport (Kano), Sadiq Abubakar III International Airport (Sokoto), and several others.
