The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu has ordered the use of lawful force to protect lives and property of citizens.
Adamu also ordered the protection of police officers and personnel of other law enforcement agencies and their families.
Furthermore, he ordered the prevention of attacks on private/public assets from any violent persons or groups.
Adamu asked Commissioners of Police and Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to resist all riotous elements forthwith.
He also asked them to checkmate any form of violent or riotous protests in line the Nigerian Constitution.
The IGP affirms that the Force will not tolerate a repeat of the horrendous attacks during the recent EndSARS protests
However, he warned that the Force shall deploy legitimate force in preventing a reoccurrence of such attacks.
You will recall that 37 civilians were injured while a total of 22 policemen were gruesomely murdered during the EndSARS protests.
Also, two hundred and five (205) police stations, corporate facilities and private property were attacked, burnt or vandalized.
Meanwhile, the IGP assured law-abiding citizens across the country of the Force’s commitment to their safety and security.
Adamu also called for the collaboration and support of citizens in the ongoing reforms of the Force.
