Abandoned newborn rescued by police in Jigawa state
Police officers in Jigawa state have resumed a newborn baby who was abandoned at the Eid prayer ground in the state’s capital, Dutse.
SP Abdu Jinjiri, the Jigawa state police spokesperson confirmed this incident to newsmen. He said that the baby boy was found wrapped in a piece of cloth with no parent or guardian in sight.
According to SP Jinjiri, the baby boy was taken to the hospital for medical examinations and he was confirmed to be in a healthy state. After his medical examination, the child was handed over to the Dutse Local Social Welfare Department to be taken care of
The police spokesperson said there are efforts to find the mother of the baby and the conditions that led to her actions. In Jinjiri’s statement,
“Consequently, we rushed to the scene and on arrival, discovered a newly born male child wrapped in a cloth and abandoned.
“To this end, the police swiftly took the baby to the hospital where it was examined and confirmed to be healthy before handing it over to the Local Government Social Welfare Department,”
The state Commissioner of Police has called on to the residents of the state to render any information they deem useful in apprehending the mother or father of the rescued baby.
