Nigerian talented singer, Olawale Olofooro, professionally known as Brymo took to his social media page to call for Pidgin English to be made Nigeria’s official language.
Nigeria’s official language has been the English Language after the colonization by Britain. Other widely spoken languages in the country include Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo languages.
Singer, Brymo has now made the call for Pidgin English which is a common lingua in Nigeria to be made the official language. According to the former Chocolate City signee, Pidgin is still English, only that it has some lingua variations with a mixture of local dialects.
Brymo Calls For Pidgin English As Nigeria’s Official Language
According to Brymo, Pidgin English, a language spoken in almost every state of the federation would do well as the nation’s first language.
His tweet @BrymOlawale reads, ‘‘Made pidgin Nigeria first language… it’s still English, only it has bits of local lingua- it is spoken in maybe every state in the country’‘
‘‘e go mad when presido come tv greet say ”una good afternoon my fellow country people”….shiiit!!!!” he added in pidgin.
Pidgin is widely spoken by Nigerians and it is also referred to as ‘Broken‘.
