The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 appeared before the House of Representatives to give account for the funds allocated to them since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. The session is being managed by a joint committee of the House.
The Director General of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe was in attendance. Also present was the National Coordinator of the PTF, Dr Sanu Aliyu. The Chaiman of the PTF and the Minister of Health were represented by their permanent secretaries.
PTF Gives Account of COVID-19 Funds to Reps
From their reports, of the N22,163,139,411, disbursed so far into the COVID-19 accounts, only N164,929,475 has been used. The spent amount was used to cater for the returnees who were evacuated from various countries. The balance of the funds is currently domiciled with the Central Bank in an account opened by the Accountant General of the Federation.
