Recently evicted Big Brother Naija housemate Fairme David shared his perspective on why he chose not to pursue any romantic relationships during his time in the house. In an interview on The Out syd by Pulse, Fairme revealed that his primary goal was to present his authentic self rather than seeking love.
When questioned about his lack of romantic involvement with the female housemates, Fairme stated, “I didn’t go into that house to find love. Love is not my problem, so I went there to show who Firme is.” He emphasized that his focus was on self-expression rather than engaging in relationships others might see as strategic.
Fairme noted that while some housemates may have used romantic entanglements as a strategy to advance in the game, he was determined to avoid any pretence. “Anybody coming into the house and anyone that has been watching Big Brother Naija knows that being in a ship takes you far so they will quickly want to be in a ship,” Fairme explained. “I did not want to fake it for Nigerians or for Africa. Maybe if I had fallen in love or caught feelings for someone, I would have gone for it. I wanted it to be real not forced and so I took my time and did me.”
He further elaborated, “If the love did not come or I didn’t see anyone I was attracted to, fine. I didn’t see anyone that was really my spec; yes, I didn’t see anyone like that. But they were all beautiful women in that house.”
Fairme’s comments underscore his commitment to authenticity and personal integrity, highlighting his decision to stay true to himself rather than conforming to what he perceived as strategic norms in the house.
