In a significant stride towards stable electricity in Nigeria, the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, announced that over 40% of Nigerians now benefit from 20 hours of electricity supply daily. This improvement, according to Adelabu, was achieved through several strategic measures taken by the government aimed at providing Nigerians with more reliable power.
In a statement released on Sunday, September 29, Adelabu attributed the success to initiatives introduced by his ministry with the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “This feat is a result of many revolutionary measures being undertaken by the Power Ministry,” Adelabu said. He further highlighted the key achievements made in the past year, particularly the generation of over 5,500 megawatts of power.
“Stable electricity in any economy cannot be overemphasized,” Adelabu stressed. He expressed optimism about further progress, noting that “over 40% of customers today enjoy over 20 hours of regular power supply across the nation.” He also promised continued efforts to improve the current power generation, transmission, and distribution rates.
This development represents a marked improvement from previous years, where electricity supply was sporadic at best, and demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing the power challenges in the country.
