Three residents of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, were said have died due to stamped at the Gwagwalada warehouse used to store some COVID-19 palliatives.
Report has it that some residents of Abuja trooped into the surrounding of the warehouse as early as 8:45am on Monday, calculating how they would corner the security operatives stationed around it gain gain entrance.
After about fifteen minutes later, the crowd were able to overpower men of the Nigeria Police Force, and Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps, NSCDC, who had earlier blocked the road with their cars.
While some of the residents tried to get some of the stored palliatives, like rice, noddles, spagetti, macaroni, brand new motorcycles, sugar, salt, soap among many others, other had breathing problems as they were suffocating due to the heat.
In the process, three women were recorded feared killed due to the stampede. The warehouse was however shutdown by security officers who overpowered the angry residents and locked it down.
Despite the huge number of palliatives in the warehouse, not all the people who came from far and near were able to get a bite, due to the shutdown.
