Shoprite and some other markets in Ondo State have recently been shut down by the state government authorities for certain conduct against the law.
The state branch of the famous shop was sealed off this Monday morning by the Ondo State Waste Management Authority, ODSWMA.
While coordinating the exercise, ODSWMA identified two major reasons before reaching the conclusions to restrain staff from gaining access to the premises.
In a statement issued by the Ondo State-owned waste management agency, the actual reason for sealing off the businesses is the unclean conduct of the South African-owned complex.
Another reason for this action is the confirmation that the shop management broke the environmental laws of ODSWMA, leading to the indefinite closure pending the following line of activities to determine whether the operators would later be pardoned or penalised more.
ODSWMA Sanctions Shoprite for Violating Hygiene Laws
Meanwhile, the General Manager of the Authority, Ayo Adeyemo, who spoke on the development, said the affected facilities’ owners violated environmental laws and failed to comply with the laid down hygienic practices.
According to her, the government is ready to exercise further sanctions on violators, warned that anyone found guilty will not be spared.
