Illegal drugs and bad food worth the sum of ₦1.9 billion was intercepted and confiscated by the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS in their Kano/Jigawa Area Offices.
The Customs Area Controller, Alhaji Muhammad Umar, revealed to journalists that the illegal commodities seized were passed to the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, where further action would be taken regarding the seizure.
The Controller revealed that they intercepted no fewer than one thousand, five hundred and ninety three (1593) bags of foreign rice with a street value of N46,078m was seized, adding that 34,940 sachets of tramadol with a street value put at N1.890m were also confiscated.
Also, Alhaji Umar further disclosed that about five hundred and thirty five (535) pieces of Cikabrin of twenty (20) grams were also seized within the last three months and handed over to the relevant authority.
The Controller revealed that 1237 foreign soap with street value at N3,171m was seized by the area office, stressing that 131 bales of second hands clothes valued at N9,825m were taken out circulations.
