Rochas Okorocha, former Imo State Governor, has been brought before a Federal High Court, FHC, in Abuja over the ₦2.9 billion fraud charges.
The former governor was ealier remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly conspiring with others, including a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC and five companies to steal from public coffers.
However, the Abuja Federal High Court posits thaf Rochas Okorocha will remain in EFCC custody, as the Senator will also be in the company of an APC stalwart who was also arraigned.
Meanwhile, Okorocha’s bail hearing will commence on Tuesday, May 31.
Reacting, some Nigerians took to Twitter to express their views as the likes of @AgboladPrince asked “When will @officialEFCC @ICPC_PE learn their lessons, they should only take offenders/corrupt officials to court when they have enough evidences and proofs to make the offenders go to jail without wasting time and government resources.
“I believe if the evidence or proofs are magnanimous and undoubtable, the judicial system will have no choice than to give the verdict that befit such offenders under the laws.” He added.
