The police in Zamfara State arrested and paraded two Chinese Nationals for allegedly engaging in illegal gold mining in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police spokesman in the state, Muhammad Shehu, he said the arrests were followed after information received on April 19 that some foreigners and Nigerians engaged in illegal gold mining activities in Kwali in Bukkuyum L.G.A of the state.
“The Information proved to be credible one as hundreds of miners scattered as soon as they saw the team. Two labourers were, however, arrested who confirmed the presence of Chinese and Burkina Faso Nationals among others”.
Muhammad Shehu identified these two Chinese as Messrs. Wang and Chan. He said as part of the police investigation process, that they were still being investigated.
