Wizkid has incurred the wrath of a certain sect in the Nigerian music scene because of the unfiltered comment he made. It is not often that an artist of a particular genre passes a comment on another genre, but this seems to be the case here.
Recently, he took to his Twitter account to post, “Hip-Hop is dead”, while this might have a grain of truth, it is not wholly correct as Hip-Hop has tried to thrive despite the rocky soil of Nigeria when it comes to hip hop. The likes of M.I., Ladipoe, Vector and Blackbonez have survived and are still dropping hits.
This statement from Big Wiz might have triggered those on the Nigerian Hip-Hop scene as Oladips dropped a diss reply for him. His reply was mostly rendered in Yoruba, he showed his respect and yet disapproval of the statement.
Fans have commented that Oladips does not have the kind of leverage in the music industry that would accommodate dissing top dawgs like Wizkid. While others have commended his delivering skills others have condemned him for his audacity.
