Hadiza Shagari, wife of the late President Shehu Shagari, is dead. According to a statement issued by the family, Hadiza died from COVID-19 complications at the age of 80-years.
The family confirmed that Hajiya Hadiza Shehu Shagari passed on in the early hours of Thursday, 12th August 2021, after battling Covid-19 at the Gwagwalada Isolation Center in Abuja.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian government has ruled out the possibility of another nationwide lockdown amidst reports about the rising COVID19 infections in the country.
Speaking at the weekly ministerial briefing organized at the State House in Abuja, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, said the government would not impose lockdown despite the increasing number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Speaking on the current industrial action embarked upon by resident doctors across the country, Osagie reiterated that the Federal government would implement a no work, no pay rule.
The Minister advised the doctors, under the aegis of the National Association of Resident Doctors, to desist from embarking on strike actions as a means of making their demands. He urged the doctors to consider other options in the country’s interest.
