Nyesome Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, just became the favourite politician of musicians, footballers and others in the entertainment and business sectors.
Recently, the Governor played host to Rivers United football club and made it a day to remember for the players.
He gifted every one of the players $20,000 (N12.9M) for coming victorious in the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL.
The Governor Celebrated the players at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt, on Thursday, 21, 2022.
He later issued the Rivers United Team with the Governors Medal Service Award, GMSA, imploring them to continue in that triumphant light and make the state proud.
The Rivers State Governor also promised to up their reward to $40,000 supposing they qualify for the Group Stage of the forthcoming Confederation of African Football, CAF Champions League Season.
Already, an additional reward for winning the just concluded NPFL is that the players will spend up to two weeks carrying out pre-season training in Madrid, Spain.
Wike Rewarded Artistes N10m Each in 2021
Recall that in May 2021, Wike also paid artistes that performed at Burna Boy’s homecoming concert N10 million each.
The concert was organised in honour of the Odogwu in Port Harcourt for his Grammy Award win, bringing great pride to the state and Nigeria.
