Nigeria’s First Lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari, has decided to forgive Aminu Mohammed, the young critic that accused the President’s Wife of feeding fat at the expense of the poor masses.
Aisha Buhari resolved to drop the charges against the final year student of the Federal University, Dutse, after giving thought to the case and finally accepting to yield to pressure from Nigerian citizens.
Her earlier decision to punish the young man through the long arms of the law was faced with massive criticism and condemnation from top influential Nigerian personalities.
Even Aisha Yesufu, the co-Founder of the #BringBackOurGirls movement and Human Rights Activist, joined in the public outcry for the release of Aminu.
She even tweeted that it is the First Lady, President Muhammadu Buhari and their children that deserved to be in jail, especially from the point of their stay in government.
According to Fidelis Ogbobe, the prosecution counsel, the first lady as the mother of the nation decided to withdraw the case, following the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians.
Justice Yusuf Halilu of the FCT High Court commended the Mrs Buhari for taking the “bold steps” to forgive the accused.
