I remember being fascinated by the question “Do blind people see in their dreams” some years ago.
A Danish research done in 2014 gave an enlightening answer ; “people who were born blind have no understanding of how to see in their waking lives, so they can’t see in their dreams. But most blind people lose their sight later in life and can dream visually. Danish research in 2014 found that as time passes, a blind person is less likely to dream in pictures.”
So it was quite interested when i stumbled on this question on reddit asking, “Blind people of Reddit, what do you find sexually attractive?”
Perhaps you might wonder how will a blind person access such a question on their smartphone or computer but blind and visually impaired people do use computer technology in different ways. Some, who can see a bit, can get software that magnifies everything on the screen to a size they can easily read.
Totally blind people have options too.
A Braille display can sit underneath a keyboard and provide a tactile version of words on the screen, one line at a time but this option is quite expensive.
A far more accessible option is a screenreader – software which reads the screen in an intelligent way, using a synthetic voice. There are voices of different qualities to choose from and users stick to their preference. Some use both Braille and speech together.
Back to the question, a commenter by the name Sarinon said “people have a really intoxicating scent. Not deodorant or perfume or whatever, but just their natural smell.
Also we can totally have body preferences, they’re just based on touch. I’m 6ft tall and I like how small my partner feels in my arms.”
Another commenter said she loves “a deep voice that hints at being able to sing, big hands, cologne, ability to give good, strong hugs, soft hair, muscular but not overly so body, easy laughter, the way he touches me (putting his hand on the small of my back in public; things like that).”
In many cases, blind people said they were attracted to a lot of the same things as everyone else. For instance one user stated that she has physical things she likes like beard, glasses and guys with low voices. Other than that, it is typical things that both sighted and blind people could say: passion for life, someone who inspires me to be better and get out in the world and challenge myself, someone with a compatible sense of humor to mine. Most importantly, someone who is kind and warm. Also a dog lover. I have a guide dog. “, she wrote.
Another commenter said he prefers tall women with smooth skin and “a big ass and thick thighs.”
“Super obsessive over smooth skin after I was traumatized with getting with this truck stop chick who had the worst case of eczema I have ever felt in my entire life,” he wrote.
Understandably, he explained that bad breath is a deal breaker.
