Body of music legend and highlife maestro Dr Victor Abombola Olaiya has taken a final spot to sleep at the vaults and Gardens cemetery, Ikoyi Lagos.
The 89 years Olaiya, who passed at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Lagos was given a unique burial in line with the current unfortunate reality of a pandemic.
The social distancing order was, however not able to deprive his fans of witnessing their music Legend burial as the silent ceremony was streamed live on Facebook.
The private but befitting burial of Victor Olaiya had few guests around, maximising their last opportunity to see him as he was laid in a brown coffin.
Since the Coronavirus pandemic has stolen the usual style and glamour that always accompanied Nigerian parties and burial of personalities like Victor Olaiya, the burial planners thought of ways around it.
We would all miss this brilliant highlife legend as we take solace in the beautiful pieces he waxed in his lifetime.
