Unknown Gunmen has murdered a traffic officer on duty around the Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area, LGA of Anambra State.
He was shot on Tuesday while coordinating traffic activities as the killers earlier raided the area, storming the blocks in two contrasting cars, causing major damage before leaving the area.
According to news sources, the attackers shot the deceased, an official of the Anambra Traffic Management Agency, ATMA, in the back.
An eyewitness at the crime scene said, “A few minutes ago, gunshots were heard at Ekwulobia roundabout and it appears to have cost the life of a traffic warden. The gunmen were said to be travelling in two vehicles. Similar gunshots were heard at Oko.”

Meanwhile, confirming the incident to newsmen, the police spokesperson for the State Command, Ikenga Tochukwu, said the gunmen shot sporadically in the area in an attempt to disarm a mobile police officer on patrol.
He said the officer, however, quickly returned the fire which made the gunmen flee the scene, but eventually gunned down the traffic warder before leaving, adding that the command commenced a hunt for the assailants.
