Omah Lay in Kitalya Prison
Nigerian fast rising star Omah Lay, Tems and Muyiwa Awomiyi have been remanded in a Ugandan prison after appearing before a court in the country.
The three Nigerians were arrested after the singer featured in a show in Uganda.
According to the Uganda police they were charged with negligent act likely to spread an infectious disease.
After news of their arrest became public, all efforts to secure their release proved abortive.
They were charged to court on Monday and have now been remanded in Kitalya Prison custody, till Wednesday, December 16, 2020 for appearance.
The police force also tweeted about the update on the arrest and prosecution. “The Nigerian trio of Stanley Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, Temilade Openyi alias Tems and Muyiwa Awomiyi have been charged to court in Makindye on charges of Negligently doing acts likely to spread an infectious diseases C/S 171 of the Penal Code Act.”
The issues have raised a lot of concerns among Nigerian celebrities like, Burna Boy,Peter Okoye, Simi, Laycon among many others.
Meanwhile, Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has hinted that plans are in top gear to secure their release.
“It has just been brought to our attention. We are doing everything possible to get it all sorted”
