The United States of America, U.S.A has slammed a visa ban on the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for his actions during the 2019 Kogi and Bayelsa states elections.
According to SaharaRepoters, other top Nigerians affected by the visa ban include Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello.
It was gathered that Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, who has been banned from entering the US since 2010 over a graft case had his visa ban.
According to the spokesperson for the Department of State, Morgan Ortagus, the people affected by the latest visa ban have received notification either by email and or text messages after they were accused of undermining democracy in Nigeria.
They were also accused of operating with impunity at the expense of the Nigerians.
Morgan noted that the visa ban reflects the Department of State’s commitment to working with the Nigerian Government to realise its commitment to end corruption and ensure respect for human rights.
You will recall that the U.S government had in July 2019 announced the imposition of visa restrictions on Nigerians who undermined the February and March 2019 elections.
Meanwhile, Everyevery.ng learnt that more Nigerian politicians may be included on the visa ban list after the Edo governorship elections if they are involved in electoral malpractice.
