Two Islamic clerics, Hassan Bilyaminu and Abdullahi Biliyaminu have bagged twenty-two years jail term for raping four girls who were students in their Islamic school in Minna, the Niger state capital.
Delivering her judgement, Chief Magistrate, Hauwa Baba Yusuf wonders what rapists derived from assaulting and defiling little girls.
The Judge, who described the act as berserk stated that there must be more to the pandemic of sexual assault on little children.
It was gathered that the suspects were dragged to the court on two-count charges which include sexual assault and act of gross indecency.
Two Clerics Bag 22 Years Jail Term
Reading the First Information Report (FIR), the Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Bello Mohammed revealed that the offences committed by the suspects were punishable under Section 285 of the penal code law.
According to Sergeant Bello, the suspects on July 31, 2020, lured four of the girls whose ages ranges between 6 and 11 years into their house and used their finger to rub and inserted it into the minors’ vagina.
The Sergeant added that the suspect had confessed to committing the crime during the police investigation.
However, the suspects pleaded guilty to the charges and appealed to the judge to temper justice with mercy with the claim that the devil pushed them to commit the crime.
