Nollywood Actress Toyin Abraham has given a piece of her mind on how people complain of bad friends and why some have decided not to make friends due to disappointment experienced in their past friendship.
In a post on her Instagram page, the actress opined that bad friends are no other people but those on earth, hence no need to point to accusing fingers or playing the blame game.
She noted that everyone is guilty of being a bad friend to someone at one point or the other, adding that forsaking people for the sake of their mistakes would further complicate the issues around friendship.
“You complain that friends are bad and so you don’t want to have friends. I complain that friends are bad and so, I’d instead do without them. But honestly, who are these terrible friends that make us all want to do away with friendships, if not us all? Ṣé ẹ fẹ́ gbọ́ òótọ́, most of the time we are the terrible friends we all complain about.
We’ve been a bad friend to somebody at one point or the other. So, if we avoid, cancel or run away from everyone who has offended us at one point or the other, what do we do with ourselves?”
The mother of one noted that it is easier to point out other people’s flaws than accept that everyone all flawed humans somehow.

According to her, the beauty of friendship is ruined when people expect perfection from one another, adding that everyone has good and bad sides. Toyin further explained that it is never realistic to experience people without their flaws.

“Rather than avoiding one another, rubbishing one another, exposing our weaknesses and publicising our offences, hoping it would create the balance and stability we desire in our friendships and shield us from being hurt by “people”, let us hold one another with grace and compassion instead.”
Toyin Abraham said tolerating other people’s weaknesses is the only means of lovingly holding one another accountable and help each other grow.
