Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has stunned fans with a candid revelation about one of Mavin Records’ biggest hits, “Dorobucci.” The singer admitted she initially disliked the now-iconic track, describing her first impression of it as “terrible.”

Speaking during an interview with NotJustOk, the award-winning performer recalled that Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, first played the early version of “Dorobucci” while they were in a hotel in Dubai for her wedding. According to Tiwa, she didn’t believe the song had any potential at the time.
“I thought it was crap,” she confessed, laughing as she reflected on how wrong her first reaction turned out to be.
Despite her initial doubts, “Dorobucci” went on to become a defining anthem for Mavin Records, dominating charts and airwaves across Africa and beyond. The 2014 hit featured an all-star lineup including Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid, Korede Bello, D’Prince, Di’Ja, and Reekado Banks marking one of the most successful collaborations in Nigerian music history.
Tiwa’s honest admission has since sparked conversations online, with many fans praising her transparency and the reminder that even global hits can have humble beginnings.
